Righto, since school's back in session... (This is all MST, which I think is -7 GMT.)
Monday: LIS 4011: Information Access and Retrieval. 7:00pm-9:20pm. Tuesday: LIS 4700: Introduction to Digitization. 7:00pm-9:20pm. Thursday: LIS 4840: Archives Administration. 4:00pm-6:20pm.
I leave two hours before class, return about an hour after. Because I am le paranoid about being early. (This is how I managed to get in a car accident, sit around waiting for the cops to take their sweet time showing up, and still get to class early last quarter...) The Monday class is online, though, which cuts the commute time entirely.
Sooooo weekends are probably going to be your best time to catch me for things. This will be for the next ten weeks!

Sorry in advance that I will probably not be able to shut up about this game until I get it in my hands and beat it butas translated by shinsuke @ dreamwidth: Conversation 1 - Hanbei & Jiang Wei Hanbei: You're Jiang Wei-san... Zhuge Liang-san's apprentice? Jiang Wei: Yes, I am training to be the emperor's assistant. However, I'm still inexperienced. Hanbei: I see. I wonder if I, "Ima Koumei" ("The Modern Zhuge Liang"), should also take an apprentice now. But that seems so troublesome...
Conversation 2 - Hanbei & Jiang Wei Hanbei: Hey, Jiang Wei-san, I changed my mind. I will take on an apprentice after all. It would have to be someone obedient and dependable. Therefore, I've found the perfect person! Jiang Wei: W-wait... do you mean me?
Conversation 3 - Hanbei & Jiang Wei Jiang Wei: Master. Although I was confused at first... I'm glad I became your apprentice. The way you nap before battle speaks especially of a great man hidden among the masses who is hygienic. With this, your mind feels refreshed. Hanbei: Of course. The mind needs its rest. Well, shall we go sleep together? MY BOYS ARE TALKING MY BOYS ARE TALKING!!! Also, I think I already mentioned the hilarious alt color schemes for Hanbei and his heterosexual life partner, but now I have screens thanks to bearess. SO MARRIED. also now I have more reasons to cry for somebody to app deng ai!!! GOD GUYS THERE IS LIKE NOTHING ABOUT THIS GAME THAT DOES NOT BRING JOY TO MY HEART, I JUST. I CAN'T EVEN!!

HELLO INTERNET I have spent the entire day sitting around in harbors and airports and on airplanes but by golly I'm home. And about to go read those posts about camp moving and dear god my inbox is exploding and class starts up again in three days--!
Anything I...should be aware of, I guess, please drop me a note! I did skim back on the network but I'm sure I missed things.

Okay, I should probably be triple-checking my luggage or something productive (or playing with LJ styles to make my comment pages stop sucking, sigh) BUT!!!1 Musou Orochi 2 has just come out in Japan (today, but it leaked a couple days early in some stores, I think?) and last night the first live streaming gameplay started to show up on the internet! As expected, I have a lot of feelings. Hanbei stuff: - Hanbei's alt color scheme is...Kanbei's color scheme. As if Koei needed to give us any more proof that they're married. - Hanbei is generally adorable in the first couple stages! And also gettin' shit done and making the plan to save the day; it looks like he's the one who figures out that they can have Kaguya send them to different points in the timeline at the same time, so they can divide and conquer. - He calls Zhao "Shibashou-san." I melted. (And backs up a little behind him when they're staring down the giant snake. Hanbei knows a good meatshield when he sees one.) - One of your generic NPC allies in the early stages is another Takenaka! I had initially suspected it would be Hanbei's younger brother or maaaaaaaybe his son, both of whom have precedent for appearing in SW games before - but after spending a lot of time staring at family trees written entirely in Japanese, it appears to be his cousin. Who I've never heard of and have no name romanization for. (Takenaka Shige-something. They're always Takenaka Shige-something...) I will not write an essay on my other thoughts but omg so much wonderful, guys. Ma Chao does the Darth Vader NOOOOOOOOOOOO!! and Yoshitsune checks out Ayane's boobs at one point. Kaguya's moveset looks so amazing. Joke weapons are built into the game, not just DLC this time. EVERYTHING IS BEAUTIFUL AND NOTHING HURTS (but the lack of a US release date). Okay, back to our scheduled fistshaking at LJ.

Okay, first...uh. I have been super absent lately! I apologize. I especially apologize to my counseling victims; the winter blahs have struck with some most unfortuitous timing. (I haven't done a single mistletoe thread this month. wth, self.)
I would say this is where I'm going to leap on it and fix that, except...I leave in a few days! And will be without internet until around the new year, as my family flees the snow to go spend Christmas lying on beaches and snorkeling and all those other lovely seasonally appropriate things.
If anyone wants to backdate some things to December when I return, I will be happy to do that, because goddamn I've dropped more balls this month than an amateur juggler. /o\

Okay, this is kind of awesome even if I have only heard translations for a couple of them. If you're familiar with the Sengoku period, you may have heard that old set of poems about what each of the three unifiers would do with a cuckoo: Nakanu nara, koroshite shimae, hototogisu (If the cuckoo does not sing, kill it.) Nakanu nara, nakashite miseyou, hototogisu (If the cuckoo does not sing, coax it.) Nakanu nara, naku made matou, hototogisu (If the cuckoo does not sing, wait for it.)
Nobunaga, known for his ruthlessness, is the subject of the first; Hideyoshi, known for his resourcefulness, is the subject of the second; and Ieyasu, known for his perseverance, is the subject of the third verse. (Thank you, Wikipedia.) So MUSOU BLOG HAS THIS THING. There is a new verse there for every character in Samurai Warriors...about what they would do with the cuckoo. I sadly only have heard translations for a couple (and my Japanese is far too rusty to get more without breaking out several dictionaries), but they are kind of awesome. (Ina would shoot the cuckoo! Masamune just starts yelling about imbeciles!) And as for Hanbei: If the cuckoo does not sing, I'll sleep while I wait.I love this so much.
